Rome to wish Chinese fans Happy New Year with funny video
Spring Festival is one of the most important Chinese holidays. And in 2018, for the year of the dog, AS Roma recorded a video clip wishing Happy Chinese New Year to fans. Four players – Dzeko, El Shaarawy, Juan Jesus and Nainggolan – said New Year greetings in Mandarin.
AS Roma has done similar initiatives in the past years. In 2016, the players honored their Chinese fans by wearing the customized shirt for the club’s home Serie A match against Sampdoria at Stadio Olimpico on Sunday. The greeting on the shirt, in reference to the fact that 2016 is the year of the Monkey in China, will read: “Golden monkey brings good fortune and happiness.”
Plus, AS Roma already launched an official Sina Weibo and WeChat account in Chima – the first time the club had communicated with Chinese fans in a local language.
These initiatives mark the continuation of the club’s engagement with its growing Chinese fan base while aligning with Roma’s strategic global vision.
“We were thrilled with the positive response from our fans in China last year and it is a pleasure for us to recognize the Chinese New Year again this season,” claimed AS Roma management. This year the team has chosen Cifnews 雨果 网, a Chinese economic newspaper specialized in digital and cross-border e-commerce, as well as’ one of the most important Chinese newspapers, as a publishing platform for the launch of the greetings on the occasion of the Chinese New Year.
Headquartered in Xiamen, Fujian Province, Cifnews will spread the message of Rome football greetings through the major Chinese information platforms. Our mission will be to deepen a mutual understanding between Roma and the Chinese world, breaking down cultural divisions and embracing the game of football. Sports let people join together. Let the party begin, 新年 快乐!
