BrandZ is a brand equity database managed by the marketing firm Millward Brown. It holds data from over 650,000 consumers and professionals across 31 countries
A new confirmation for the Chinese brands Tencent and Alibaba. According to the 2018 BranZ Top Most Valuable Brands list released by WPP and Kantar Millward Brown, in fact, Tencent and Alibaba remain among the top 10 brands in the world.
He Maochun, director of the Research Center of Economy and Diplomacy in Tsinghua University, told to Global Times: “It’s not surprising for Chinese brands to have made such remarkable achievements given the increased national power and exploiding market over the past 40 years of reform and opening up”.
The research was done by calculating factors like the 3 million of consumers interviewed and financial and business performance reviews of each brand
This year witnessed the fastest growth of non-US brands, and subversive Chinese brands have made a huge impact. Tencent holds fifth place behind Google, Apple, Amazon and Microsoft with a brand value fo $179 billion.
Doreen Wang, the head of BrandZ, talking about the young Chinese consumers and the rise of China, said: “While entering into US markets may still be at a preliminary stage for both brands, other regions are embracing them”.
