“The global significance of relations between China and the EU is increasingly significant,” said Zhan Ming

Among the main reasons that led many Chinese diplomats to Europe, there is the ninth round of high-level strategic dialogue between China and the EU, held last month, in which the two sides reached a “ten-point consensus“, in support of multilateralism and an open world economy.

Moreover, in this historical phase in which relations between China and the US are weakening, Europe for China is increasingly interesting. According to data processed by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, two-way trade reached a record high of 682.2 billion dollars in 2018, with an increase of 10.6% compared to the previous year. Furthermore, China and Europe are building a broad consensus for cooperation within the Belt and Road initiative.
