Economic relations between Qatar and China are increasing and this week a group of entrepreneurs from Qatar will visit China to explore development opportunities
A group of entrepreneurs from Qatar this week will visit China and go to Guangzhou, in Shenzhen. According to Qatar-based newspaper Gulf Times, the purpose of the visit is to explore the economic opportunities of the Chinese business area for entrepreneurs in Qatar.
To clarify the details of the visit is a press statement released by Bedaya Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career Development (Bedaya Centre). Reem al-Suwaidi, Bedaya centre’s general manager, said that this is “the first-of-its-kind journey in line with the strategy and objectives of the centre to support entrepreneurs and open their horizons in various sectors and industries”.
Trade between Qatar and China increased by 45 percent in the first quarter of 2018 compared with the same period in 2017
The visit aims, according to Suwaidi, is to connect the Qatari businessmen and traders with the leading factories in China’s south-eastern cities of Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
The spokesperson also clarified that the visit to China is part of the Qatar project to create a more diversified economic base, in line with the growing sector of SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises).
The relationship between China and Qatar, on the other hand, is always greater, especially in the infrastructure sector. Suffice it to say that China plays a key role in the construction of the Lusail Stadium for the FIFA 2022 World Cup, Hamad Port in Doha and other projects.
