Hangzhou, new policies in the city for the development of 5G

The city of Hangzhou will try to become a national pioneer in the 5G network by 2022

 

Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province in eastern China, recently announced a series of measures and policies regarding the development of 5G, becoming one of the first cities in the country to do so.

Focusing on technological innovation, industrial development, talent cultivation, application scenarios and infrastructure construction, policies are designed to attract more companies and quality organizations, as well as to promote 5G industrial growth in Hangzhou.

 

Companies will be encouraged to research key products such as chips and devices

 

According to the policies, projects with an investment in research and development of over 3 million yuan ($ 445,573) will receive a maximum subsidy of 10 million yuan; while the subsidies, for a total of 100 million and 150 million yuan, will be assigned respectively to the bases of 5G manufacturing innovation at state and provincial level.

Companies will be encouraged to research key products such as chips, devices, modules and terminals. The city, for its part, will intensify its efforts in the construction of infrastructures and will give priority to the construction of 5G demonstration bases.

 

The city will promote applications and industrial development

 

The infrastructure is fundamental for the construction of a 5G network, promoting applications and industrial development, according to a local official, who specified that this year over 1,000 base stations will be built forming a 5G network for a total of 200 square meters.

The city of Hangzhou will seek to become a national pioneer in the 5G network by 2022 and will continue to develop its capabilities in industrial applications, technological development and services.
