Moutai increases exports, it is the most important liquor brand in China

Kweichow Moutai earned $ 430 million from exports in 2018

 

2018 was a great year for Kweichow Moutai, the most important Chinese liquor producer. In fact, this year Kweichow Moutai earned 430 million dollars from exportation in 2018, with an increase of 28.6% on an annual basis. This is confirmed by the same company, which added that in 2018 it also recorded a turnover of about 75 billion yuan (about 11 billion US dollars) in 2018, about 23% on an annual basis.

Produced by the state-owned Kweichow Moutai Company, the beverage is distilled from fermented sorghum and now comes in several different varieties. Maotai originated during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), when northern Chinese distillers introduced advanced techniques to create a distinctive type of baijiu. Thereafter Maotai was produced at several local distilleries, Moutai now has 115 overseas distributors in 68 countries and regions.

Li Baofang, president of the Moutai Group, said that for the future Moutai will maintain its quality, will work both on the national and international market and develop brand marketing, with the aim of achieving a turnover of over 100 billion yuan in 2019 .

Liquor is often served on official occasions and state banquets and is considered a luxury item and has long been a popular gift. Despite its high price, Moutai’s domestic demand has always exceeded the offer.
