The report also shows that in China the average time spent on the Internet has increased by 62.9 minutes, reaching 5.69 hours a day by mobile phone users. They spent 11.4% of their time online looking at short videos, a sector that follows instant messaging in this special ranking.
The decisive push for the sector could come from the future 5G technology
The use of audio and video applications continues to grow in China, accounting for over 80% of total Internet traffic.
Wang Changqing, head of the Internet development research department of the China Internet Network Information Center, said the 5G technology landing will offer a historic opportunity for even greater development in the industry.
