The three members of the MOJA group (Yuheng, Yaoguang and Kaiyang) are named after stars of the Ursa Major
On the stage is represented the story of a student who, after having invented a robot, faced various vicissitudes. Still, some actors have something special. They are, in fact, robots. This is the MOJA, a band composed of three robots, which held a melodious music show at Tsinghua University.
The three members of the MOJA group are Yuheng, Yaoguang and Kaiyang and take the name from three stars of the Ursa Major, and have given life to a musical drama, staged together with some human actors. The band plays traditional Chinese musical instruments: bamboo flute, konghou (an ancient plucked string instrument) and drums.
Developers within the team have different skills
The project of the robot band was developed by teachers and students of Tsinghua University and by teams of entrepreneurs who graduated from the same Chinese university. Developers within the team have different skills: experts in control and interaction with robots, sculpture artists, new media artists, theater experts and musicians.
Mi Haipeng, associate professor at the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, commented: “In terms of appearance, we try to create images from the perspective of sculpture artists to make the postures and shapes of robots more realistic. “.
The art of robots seems to be an increasingly popular form of art
In recent years the art of the robot, as a completely new art form, has emerged at home and abroad. Unlike industrial robots and service robots, art robots pay more attention to the relationship with humans and social culture.
“Through the bridge of art, we hope to convey the idea of harmonious coexistence between man and technology,” said Mi, adding that the band of robots will have more members in the future.
