The idea is that of a smart city project in the Chinese city of Hangzhou: “Wanxiang Innova City”
The fields of application of blockchain technology are becoming more and more and, among the last, there is that of using this technology for smart cities. In this regard, Wanxiang, a Chinese manufacturer of automotive components, is working with PlatON, a Hong Kong-based non-profit blockchain organization, to develop data infrastructures. The idea is that of a smart city project in the Chinese city of Hangzhou, nicknamed “Wanxiang Innova City“.
Thanks to Platon’s blockchain technology it will be possible to track, transfer and protect sensitive data collected from residents’ identification cards, intelligent equipment and other devices. One of the use cases of the Platon blockchain solution is the monitoring of driving behavior and the use of data to develop autonomous driving systems.
The city will be built on an 8.3 square kilometer piece of land
For Wanxiang it is not the first time it ventures into the blockchain, in fact, it was an active investor in the blockchain space of China. In fact, the automotive giant has committed $ 29 billion to the smart city project, to be invested over the next decade.
Innova City should be completed by 2025 and, according to plan, it should be able to accommodate 90,000 residents. The city, which will be built on an 8.3 square kilometer piece of land, will be considered one of the largest smart blockchain cities in China, once completed.
